Define women by own achievements

How annoying that in the 21st century women are still defined by their husbands' jobs. In its article headlined "A few surprises pop up in Lake County on the last day of candidate filing," a Daily Herald reporter describes Jeanne Goshgarian as the wife of former Circuit Court Judge John Goshgarian.

Jeanne is a person in her own right. She served as a commissioner for the Round Lake Area Park District for over 20 years and, at one time, was the president of the board. She is the a member of the Friends of the Round Lake Area Parks Foundation and is an attorney for Ancel, Glink law firm. She was a soccer coach for AYSO and has been involved in many other groups and organizations.

Couldn't that description be used for her before the reporter mentioned her husband's job? It wouldn't have taken much research to find other information about Jeanne Goshgarian instead of using her husband's former job for her description.
