Adopt puppies; don't buy them

Congratulations to the Davises on a job well done! ("Pet store owner says economy, not protests, led to closing," July 4.)

I attended two of their protests and saw firsthand what dedication and determination this couple has. I'm so proud that their efforts have paid off. With millions of dogs euthanized in this country because they don't have homes, no reason exists for stores to be selling puppies. Please don't support puppy mills by buying puppies. Adopt from shelters and rescue organizations instead.
