Police rule Arlington Heights death a suicide
Arlington Heights police said a man committed suicide when he stepped in front of a Metra train at Euclid Avenue and Northwest Highway on Thursday night.
The 56-year-old local man was struck by a Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line train around 8:30 p.m. One Metra train scheduled to arrive in Crystal Lake at 8:55 p.m. was canceled. Other train lines were delayed on Thursday night because of the accident.
The man had lived about a block away from the Arlington Park train station for about five years, police said.
