Barrington Chapter Lyric Opera to host luncheon program Feb. 15

Extend your Valentine's Day celebrations with a combination of good food and a Barrington Chapter Lyric Opera of Chicago program on Sunday, Feb. 15, at Francesca's Restaurant, 100 E. Station Street, in Barrington. All northwest suburban area residents are invited to attend.

The chapter's program, following lunch, will feature Solange Sior, a French Canadian soprano and pianist who has been making her home in Chicago for several years.

Sior is the founder and artistic director of Elgin OPERA, which serves the Fox Valley area. She holds bachelor and master's degrees in vocal performance from the University of Montreal and is a former student of the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists in Chicago.

As a pianist, Sior holds laureate degrees from

Montreal's Vincent-d'Indy Music School. She instructs students in voice and piano at an Elgin studio.

In 2007, Ms. Sior brought the house down in several performances of Madama Butterfly under the direction of Maestro Philip Morehead from the Lyric Opera of Chicago and Maestro Francesco Milioto, assistant director at Ravinia.

The event begins at 1 p.m. with a cash bar and lunch will be your choice of chicken, fish or Italian sausage. Tickets are $35; $40 for nonmembers. Reservations are due Feb. 9. For information about the event or becoming a member, call Sue at (847) 985-0837.
