Gurnee votes made the outcome clear

I can see why our mayor in Park City, Steve Pannell, and the Park City Council has decided to give up trying to lobby Gurnee on the Gurnee junkyard issue.

Park City did a great job during the last junkyard fight, and defeated the junkyard.

But in the last election in Gurnee, two of the supporters of Park City, who voted against the junkyard left the village board. They were replaced with a Gurnee plan commission member who voted for the junkyard at the plan commission meeting, and her running mate who had publicly supported the junkyard in his campaign.

There was no purpose in Park City lobbying Gurnee, since the votes where there to approve the junkyard. Also, the mayor of Gurnee refused to oppose the junkyard herself.

I am glad that the Park City Council and the mayor decided not to waste our tax dollars fighting a junkyard that was going to get approved anyway. It was a wise decision.
