City playing name that space with new Geneva plaza

When Geneva officials cut the ribbon on the new public plaza on Third Street, they want to refer to it as something besides "the new public plaza on Third Street."

So the city is having a contest to name the space, located on the west side of Third Street by the newest Dodson Place building, a retail and residential complex just north of the train station.

The winner will get to participate in the ceremony.

The 2,500-square-foot plaza should be finished by late spring.

It will have seating, flowers and other plants, and a map directory of downtown Geneva businesses.

Entry forms are available at City Hall, 22 S. First St., and on the city Web site, geneva.il.us. Entries are due at 5 p.m. Feb. 27.
