Stop by the Health & Wellness Fair in Buffalo Grove as 15 local health care providers and not-for-profit organizations make presentations on health and provide screenings. Guests can find out about their cholesterol levels, blood pressure, hearing and sight. Other healthy highlights include free presentations on yoga and food safety.

Buy ice cream for just 31 cents per scoop at any Baskin Robbins store across the nation during the company's 31 Cent Scoop Night event on Wednesday, April 29. The low price of the ice cream is set to help raise funds for and honor the National Volunteer Fire Council, a group that represents the interests of volunteer fire, rescue service and EMS workers. Note to ice cream lovers: There is a three-scoop limit per person during the special event.

Little trains keep on rolling

The Geneva History Center hosts its third annual Lego Train Show, with constructions by the Northern Illinois Lego Train Club. Working trains will run through Lego scenes from films such as "Star Wars" and the "Harry Potter" series, along with tiny re-creations of well-known Geneva buildings and homes.

The cradleboard will rock

See a variety of cradleboards - infant carriers used by generations of Native Americans - at the new "A Mother's Touch: The Cradleboard Collection of the Mitchell Museum" exhibit. Eleven cradleboards from the Apache, Athabaskan, Ojibwe, Paiute, Potawatomi, Ute and Washo tribes are featured. The boards are dated from the late 19th century to the late 20th century. Tribe members made their cradleboards objects of personal expression and beauty, using cloth, beadwork or weavings for decoration. The boards were often marked with sacred tribal colors or symbols that were meant to bring good luck to the child.
