North Aurora trio charged in Kane burglary spree
Three North Aurora men were charged Friday in connection with a Kane County burglary spree that hit at least three communities.
Joshua A. Bell, 18, and Richard S. Bell, 21, both of the 400 block of Chestnut Street, and Arturo I. Pinon, 21, of the 200 block of Linn Court, were arrested about 1:30 a.m. Thursday during a routine traffic stop in Aurora for an equipment violation, police said.
Sgt. Dan Ferrelli said the men were in possession of several items reported stolen in Batavia, North Aurora and Aurora. One of them tried to flee the traffic stop but was quickly caught, he said.
All three are charged with six counts of burglary, possession of burglary tools and theft between $300 and $10,000 in connection with burglaries in the three communities.
Police said they are still taking inventory of the stolen goods and additional charges might be possible if the men are tied to additional thefts in other towns.
In North Aurora, Lt. Scott Buziecki said the men appeared to have targeted electronics such as iPods and global positioning systems. He said items were recovered from vehicle burglaries on the 100 block of Gorham Court and the 600 and 700 blocks of Thompson Avenue.
Bail was set at $50,000 each and the men remained in the county jail Friday pending Jan. 22 court appearances. If convicted of burglary, they could be sentenced to three to seven years in prison or probation and fines.
