Man gets 13 years for teen's sex assault

EDWARDSVILLE -- A Madison County man has been ordered to spend eight years in prison in the 2005 sexual attack of a 13-year-old girl.
Thirty-nine-year-old Anson Carr declined to address the judge before being sentenced Wednesday in Edwardsville in southwestern Illinois.
Jurors convicted Carr in October of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
During the trial, Carr maintained his innocence, saying the girl had reason to lie.
Prosecutors had sought a 15-year sentence, while Carr's attorney had requested the minimum of six years. By state law, Carr must serve 85 percent of his sentence.
