Akorn discloses production deal

BUFFALO GROVE -- Akorn Inc., manufacturer of sterile specialty pharmaceuticals, Monday reported the signing of a deal with Burlington, Mass.-based Hyaluron Contract Manufacturing Inc. The deal provides for two ANDA injectable suspension products with a 2006 market size of $220 million, which Hyaluron will manufacture and Akorn will market and distribute within the U.S. Akorn will direct the clinical trials, plan the ANDA Regulatory filings and will own both ANDAs. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The products are expected to launch in 2010.

Stericycle reports 2Q 2007 results

LAKE FOREST -- Stericycle Inc. recently reported revenue for the second quarter of 2007 at $232.8 million, up 17.3 percent from $198.4 million in the second quarter of 2006. Acquisitions less than 12 months old contributed $11.0 million to the $34.4 million revenue growth in the second quarter of 2007. Gross profit was $104.5 million, up 19.4 percent from $87.6 million in the second quarter last year.
