Democrats' petty attack on McCain

The news of the two Democratic presidential candidates, Obama and Clinton, estimating they collected $50 million and $35 million in donations respectively in the shortest month of the year "raised" a few logical questions for me.

First, I doubt John McCain has pillaged his supporters to collect such excessive amounts of money since the onset of his campaign, let alone in a single month.

So doesn't it seem petty, hypocritical and foolish for Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean to criticize and sue McCain over campaign finance issues?

I find it laughable that the Democrat hit machine has tried to skewer McCain while he has raised a fraction of the Democratic candidates' dollar totals.

Second, since the war in Iraq has been succeeding, the Democrats and their allies in the press have had to change their focus to exacerbate how awful they perceive our economy to be.

Using buzzwords and pandering platitudes about how the middle class is being squeezed, they pontificate about how most Americans have less and less money in their monthly budget.

Why then, would these same campaigns solicit and accept these record numbers of financial donations from the very people they purport have no extra money at the end of the month?

If they truly cared about the pocketbooks of these Americans, they should not be taking money from them at record-breaking rates.
