Slaughter remains unbeaten

Reigning CIFL Offensive Player of the Week Donovan Morgan scored three times in the opening half as the Chicago Slaughter improved to 7-0 on Saturday night.

The Slaughter put up 35 points in the opening half and cruised to a 78-25 triumph over Milwaukee at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates.

Morgan, who set the single-game receiving yards record last week, hauled in scoring passes of 16, 25 and 35 yards in the first 19 minutes of the game.

The 16-yarder opened the game's scoring less than three minutes into the contest and the 25-yarder came with 14:08 left in the second quarter. Less than four minutes later, he hauled in a 35-yard score to make it 28-6.

Morgan finished with 7 catches for 122 yards and four scores. It was his fifth-straight game with more than 100 yards receiving and his fourth-straight with four touchdown grabs. On the year, Morgan has 21 scores and 721 yards on 41 catches.

Dontrell Jackson and Reggie Gray had the other two Slaughter scores of the first half. Jackson's was a 12-yard reception with 3:29 to go in the first quarter and Gray's was a nine-yarder with just 33 seconds left in the half.

Milwaukee's lone score of the opening half came on a one-yard run by Steve Lucas seven seconds into the second quarter.

The Slaughter led 35-6 at the break.

Chicago's Rob Schroeder recorded a safety to open the scoring in the second half, giving the Slaughter a 37-6 advantage.

From there, the two teams traded a pair of scores to finish out the third quarter. Milwaukee's touchdowns came on one-yard runs by Shatone Powers and Adam Chorazy. Chicago's scores came on a 56-yard kick return by Gray and a Russ Michna to Morgan 13-yard aerial.

Chicago led 51-19 going to the fourth.

Nick Cosentino capped the next two Chicago possessions with touchdowns. He powered in for a one-yard run with 7:58 left to cap a nine-play drive for the first and then recovered a Jackson fumble in the endzone for the second.

Brandon Tobias closed out the Milwaukee Bonecrusher (2-4) scoring with 1:09 remaining on a 10-yard reception from Powers.

Chicago finished things off with a Brandon Fields 16-yard kickoff return and a Brandon Eaton one-yard run.

Michna was 18-of-29 for 231 yards and six touchdowns.
