Fire's cause still a mystery:

Elk Grove Village police Monday were continuing to investigate a car fire that killed an 85-year-old village resident, but offered no new details. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death of Evelyn Dressel early Saturday morning in her car in the 100 block of Northwest Point Boulevard was an accident. Police haven't commented on the cause of the car fire.

Valentine's Day in Bartlett:

In honor of Valentine's Day, the Bartlett History Museum invites children and their families for the annual open house. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, residents can stop by for "My Pretty Valentine," and craft Valentines for loved ones. All supplies are provided and the workshop is free. Vintage valentines from the museum's collection will be on display to serve as inspiration for the young artisans. The museum is in village hall, 228 S. Main St. (630) 837-0800.

A way to find lost pets:

Every two seconds a family pet is lost. Loving Care Animal Clinic, 2633 Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows, is holding "Microchip Your Pet Day" Saturday, Jan. 31. Call (847) 670-8488 to schedule an appointment at the fee of $25 per pet, down from the normal charge of $47.
