If the shoe was on the other foot
It isn't as if this state isn't suffering enough. A governor who has become totally ineffective. A state that is billions of dollars in debt. On and on.
So instead of concentrating on removing the governor and righting the ship of government, what are the Republicans concerned about? Attempting to change the rules on how Barack Obama's Senate seat is filled.
Ignore the fact that this would cost the taxpayers of the state around $35 million that we don't have. If the situation was reversed, the Republicans would, rightfully, be screaming bloody murder.
If the Republicans are so concerned about changing the way this process occurs, fine. Then pass legislation to require a special election the next time something such as this happens.
You don't change the rules simply because they don't suit your purposes.
