Burris no insult; Quinn, Durbin are
Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn called Gov. Blagojevich's appointment of Roland Burris, "an insult to the people of Illinois."
The Daily Herald had this to say about Roland Burris: "... a distinguished career in public service, the first black elected to statewide office in Illinois, a former attorney general and comptroller..."
Say what you will about Gov. Blagojevich but in this instance he hasn't insulted the people of Illinois, he's performed his constitutional duty by appointing a man, apparently beyond reproach, to the Senate seat of President-elect Obama. The insult comes from Pat Quinn, Sen. Dick Durbin and every Democrat elected official in Illinois, including Mr. Obama, who did not insist on a special election to fill this seat. Their flip-flops, especially Quinn's and Durbin's, are pure political ploys owed to their fear a special election just might give the people of Illinois the opportunity to vote their overall displeasure with the Democrat party in Illinois and elect a Republican.
The continued embarrassment being suffered by the people of Illinois doesn't come from Rod Blagojevich it comes from inept Democrat politicians that have been outsmarted, due to their own political self-interests by a governor actually doing his constitutional duty for the citizens of Illinois.
The people of Illinois seem to "suffer fools equally."
