Two men charged with hate crime
Two northern Illinois men face hate crime and battery charges.
Joliet deputy police chief Patrick Kerr says two white men used a garbage can to beat a 43-year-old black man outside a gas station.
Kerr says police responded and the two men used the garbage can to swing at officers. The victim suffered lacerations and bruises to the head.
Twenty-six-year-old Lucas M. Bailey of Wilmington and 26-year-old Jerry Bryant of Joliet are charged with aggravated battery, mob action, committing a hate crime and resisting a police officer.
Neither man have telephone listings. Both have previous criminal records.
