Police search for robber near Sears Centre
Hoffman Estates police are investigating the Wednesday morning robbery of a guest at the Marriott Northwest Chicago Hotel near the Sears Centre.
Hotel staff called police to the scene of the crime in the parking lot at 10:10 a.m., Sgt. Greg Poulos said.
The customer reportedly had walked from the hotel to brush snow off his car in the parking lot when two men approached, pushed him to the ground and began rifling through his coat and belongings, Poulos said.
The two attackers took the victim's watch, coat, cell phone and briefcase and fled on foot.
Officers responded with a K-9 unit, which tracked the attackers to another parking area where it's believed they fled in a vehicle, Poulos said.
The only description of the two men is that they were white or Hispanic in their late 20s or early 30s. One of the men was wearing a light-colored hoodie with black print. There was no clothing description for the other man.
Police are still investigating whether the men knew the victim and if he was specifically targeted, Poulos said.
Anyone with knowledge of the incident or the offenders is asked to call the department at (847) 882-1818.
