Charges filed in shooting of police officer
Bail has been denied a 20-year-old Indiana man accused of shooting to death a Metra police officer a little over two years ago.
Jeremy Lloyd was being held in Cook County Jail after his first appearance in court on Monday, where he was charged with murder and armed robbery in the death of Metra Police officer Thomas Cook.
Cook, a former Riverdale police officer and father of two, was fatally shot in the head Sept. 27, 2006 in his patrol car across the street from a Metra Electric Line station in Harvey.
Prosecutors said Lloyd and another man wanted Cook's gun. The other suspect remains in jail awaiting trial on other charges and hasn't been charged in the Cook case.
