The final St. Charles Township brush pickup dates are Tuesday and Nov. 3. Unincorporated St. Charles residents should call the township road district office at (630) 584-3496 the Friday before each pickup and leave their address if they have brush to be picked up.

In celebration of its 150th anniversary, the Kane County Bar Association has scheduled monthly Ask a Lawyer Days throughout 2008. Under the program, free legal advice is available to the public by calling (630) 762-1900 from 9 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of each month. The next session is Saturday. Batavia pumpkin sale

'Pooches and Pumpkins'
"Pooches and Pumpkins," a fund-raiser for Anderson Animal Shelter, is at 11 a.m. Saturday in the green space between Potbelly and Annabella's in the Geneva Commons shopping center on Randall Road. There will be dogs available for adoption, a pet caricaturist, pet photographer and an animal communicator/Reiki therapy specialist. All are donating a portion of their proceeds to the shelter. Basket raffles, games and a pet contest will be part of the day. The contest begins at 1 p.m. with 15 categories including best dressed, best trick, best smile, most kisses, looking most like their owner and best mystery mutt. Prizes and ribbons to be awarded. A parade around the Commons will wrap up the day. Supplies for Anderson, including towels, blankets, dog and cat food and cat litter, will also be collected.
CROP Walk raises $4,700
The Aurora CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday raised $4,700 to fight hunger worldwide. About 75 walkers participated in the 3-mile, ecumenical walk that raised $300 more than last year. Bethany of Fox Valley United Methodist Church in Aurora sponsored the event.
