Warren gets first win of season over Simeon

D'Anequa Taylor and Morgan Garrett each scored 9 points to lead Warren's girls basketball team to its first win of the season, 44-39, over visiting Simeon in the New Trier Thanksgiving tournament Monday night.

Warren (1-2) jumped out to a 19-4 lead after one quarter, then saw Simeon creep back into the game.

The Blue Devils led 26-17 at halftime before taking a 35-23 lead into the fourth quarter. Despite getting outscored 16-9 in the fourth, and going just 19 of 39 from the foul line, Warren prevailed.

Taylor also had 5 steals. Jessica Prince pulled down a team-high 8 rebounds for the Blue Devils, and Marla Pettis chipped in 6 points and 4 boards.

Simeon received 11 points from Angela Byrd. Chesi Poston had 16 rebounds, 6 blocks and 6 points for the Lady Wolverines.
