Slick roads causing spin-outs, fender benders
Slick roads caused by less than an inch of snow is causing minor spin outs and fender benders throughout the Chicago area, state police are reporting.
Officials are reporting minor accidents on some highways and major streets, while snow plows have been out since last night to try and reduce the slipping.
Most recently, accidents were reported on the East-West tollway near the York Road exit, and on I-294 near Lake Cook Road in Wheeling. None of the accidents reported were deemed serious and are being pushed to the side.
Officials at the National Weather Service said less than one inch of persistent light snow fell on Chicago overnight.
Minor delays were reported at Chicago's main airports, but FAA officials said it was due to bad weather on the East Coast and not the minor snowfall reported here.
The snow is expected to continue to fall lightly into the night Wednesday before tapering off. Temperatures will rise to about 30 degrees before dropping to the lower 20s with wind gusts reaching between 10 and 15 miles per hour, meteorologists predicted.
