2 dead in West Side fire; 11 left homeless
A 91-year-old woman and her 85-year-old brother have died in a fire on Chicago's West Side.
Authorities identified them as Eva Pearson and her brother, Early Giles. Chicago Fire Department spokeswoman Eve Rodriguez says the fire started at the home early Sunday morning.
Relatives say both Pearson and Giles had physical limitations. Pearson suffered from severe arthritis and Giles had both legs amputated at the knee.
The two lived together for more than 30 years.
Officials with the American Red Cross say they're helping 11 people find places to stay because the fire severely damaged the building.
Officials say the fire caused minor damage to surrounding buildings.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
