Outlook: One of these Upstate Eight Conference teams will get its first victory of the season. This is the UEC opener for Elgin, which played its third nonconference game last week. The Maroons hope to enjoy a breakout game offensively after mustering only 2 offensive touchdowns in their first three outings. Elgin has rushed for 310 yards this season but has thrown for just 124. "We've got to get better in the passing game because we can run the ball a little bit with Jordan (Dean), C.J. (McKenzie) and Cory (Michalik)," Elgin coach Dave Bierman said, "but people are going to start packing the box. We have to complete a few passes to at least make teams respect the pass to let our running game go. We have some weapons. We just have to get into the end zone." East Aurora has not challenged its three opponents in losses to West Aurora (46-13), Yorkville (50-22) and St. Charles North (55-6). The Tomcats have four returning offensive linemen blocking for speedy quarterback Brian Robinson (6-0, 200). "He's a very athletic quarterback, and that's probably our No. 1 concern," Bierman said. "You have to be able to contain him. We have to make sure we have more than one kid after him. We have to pursue right and not overrun things."
