Scouting Grayslake Central @ Crystal Lake Central
Grayslake Central (2-3, 1-2) at Crystal Lake Central (4-1, 2-0)
When 7:15 p.m. today
Last week Grayslake Central lost to Woodstock, 41-7; Crystal Lake Central def. Grayslake North, 28-7.
Skinny Grayslake Central coach Nick Goshe was adamant before the start of the season that his team would make defense a priority even if that meant the offense lagged a bit. Prior to last week's Woodstock game, that approach seemed to suit the Rams, who were giving up just 11.7 points per game and had 2 shutouts to their credit-But then Woodstock "just ate us up," Goshe said. The Rams gave up a season-high 41 points all while continuing to sputter offensively. The Rams got just 6 first downs, two of which came on the last series of the game. Grayslake Central's only score came on an 80-yard pass from Mike Gentile (7-of-11 for 138 yards) to 6-foot-5 tight end CJ Stempeck. The Rams have scored just 14 points in three losses-Last week, Crystal Lake Central dominated Grayslake North and didn't need a single passing yard to do it. All 367 of its total yards came on the ground-Sophomore running back Gage Harrah had 15 carries for 170 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Tigers.
