Protests planned during I0C visit
Opponents of the city of Chicago's efforts to land the 2016 Olympic Games say they will hold a rally on the day international Olympics officials visit the city to assess its bid.
Officials of No Games Chicago, a newly formed group, say they hope to attract 2,000 people for the rally on April 2.
Organizer Bob Quellos said Tuesday opponents believe money being spent on the Olympics should be used instead for housing and schools.
Officials of Chicago 2016 bid team said the Olympics will generate new jobs and spending, adding sports facilities to parks and creating a new residential community on the South Side.
Chicago is competing against Tokyo, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro for the games. The International Olympic Committee will announce its choice to host the 2016 Summer Games in October.
