Hoffman Estates Garden Club presenting talk on native flora, fauna

• The Hoffman Estates Garden Club presents Art Gara from Art and Linda's Wildflowers to discuss flowers, grasses and wildlife are native to the Chicago area and how to incorporate them into your garden. Chicago Botanic Garden

• A new silhouette bonsai show called "Three Friends of Winter" is held in honor of the Lunar New Year from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. Suminagashi artist Pam Martinez does demonstrations on Japanese paper art from 2 to 4 p.m. while Anne Shimojima shares Japanese folk tales and winter stories at 1 p.m.

Bonsai curator Ivan Watters leads a lecture on "The Other Season - What We Don't Often See" at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. No extra charge.
