A lame effort to put blame on Bush
On Aug. 7, there was a letter in the Fence Post from Dr. Middleton of Des Plaines in which he said that if the money spent by President Bush in Iraq for just two hours had been spent on the Minneapolis bridge, the disaster could have been avoided.
Well, that is ludicrous when you consider how much money was allotted to the members of the Minnesota delegation to Congress, half of whom are Democrats, in 2006.
According to recent news report since the incident, the Minnesota members of Congress received nearly a half million dollars in earmarks for highway construction projects, none of which they used for bridge inspections or repairs. Apparently, the Minnesota delegates did not consider spending the money on bridge projects a priority. I'm sure Middleton, using his illogical reasoning, will somehow blame the mine disaster in Utah on President Bush also.
