Affordable living makes news for Grand Pointe
The manor townhouses at emerging Grand Pointe Meadows remain newsworthy.
"Prices start in the $190s" is what the headline should say, and that's good news for first-time home buyers who are looking for price, luxury and location in their attached housing.
Speaking of luxury: All of the homes back up into wooded areas, and a couple of lush parks lie within the development. As for its location, the community -- which is being built by Grand Pointe Homes -- is unfolding in quaintly upscale West Dundee.
A historic town with architecture dating back to the 1850s, West Dundee sits along the shores of the scenic Fox River in fast-growing Kane County. The town boasts top-flight schools, a rich park district, numerous shops and restaurants, nearby corporate employers, and an old-fashioned, village-style downtown. West Dundee is also close to Metra rail stations.
The development's 108 manor-style townhouses themselves are large and laid out like single-family homes.
"You have to literally see them to believe how different they are from traditional townhouses," said Scott Ballard, vice president of sales and marketing for Grand Pointe.
Ranging in size from 1,353 to 2,354 square feet, the homes feature two or three bedrooms, 1½ to 2½ baths, a cozy loft, art niches and decorative columns, a kitchen separating a dining room and a dinette, and -- in the case of one model -- a sprawling two-story great room.
Another model takes the form of a compact, single-story ranch that nevertheless seems large and expansive thanks to windows on two walls.
Optional touches throughout the other models include a skylight, cathedral ceilings, a screened-in porch, an eating bar and a balcony off the dining room. A two-car garage is standard with each home.
Grand Pointe Meadows falls within the company's price-slashing incentives program, which averages $10,000 off yet-to-be built homes and up to $20,000 off inventory homes. However, this offer is good only if you finance your home through the company's preferred lender.
"There's a lot to showcase about these townhouses, but price has to occupy center stage," said Ballard. "You can get a brand-new, luxurious home in a premium location for under $190,000. In this day and time, that's still big news."
