Metra boosts sales at Acadia on the Green

Acadia on the Green offers three condominium buildings close to the train in Downers Grove.

Train commuters are helping to fill up a new condominium and retail development in downtown Downers Grove.

Acadia on the Green by New England Builders is 75 percent full.

The 124-unit development is located next to a Metra train station where commuters can catch a 27-minute express train to downtown Chicago.

The three-building community features upscale condominiums having one to three bedrooms and one to 2½ baths.

Centrally located, residents can walk to theaters, restaurants, a weekly farmer's market, and Fischell Park bandshell hosting a summer concert series.

The first building is complete, while Building Two is undergoing roofing and exterior brick work. The third and final building starts construction this month.

Featuring 15 distinctive floor plans, the residences range from 774 square feet up to 1,917 square feet, and are priced from the low $200,000s to the mid $400,000s.

Many of the floor plans include dens, dual access to the balcony and views of the central park-like Village Green, with a flower garden and landscaped walkway.

The four-story red brick buildings will have first floor retail with elevator access and underground heated parking and storage.

The maintenance-free living with intercom security appeals to a variety of residents, from young single professionals to married couples to empty-nesters and snowbirds.

All residences have nine-foot ceilings, solid six-panel doors, wood-cased glazed windows with low E glass, in-unit laundry hook-ups and a sound-proofing system.

Kitchens have Corian® solid surface countertops, stainless steel double basin sinks, Moen® faucet with spray, and Frigidaire® stainless steel appliances.

Master baths have Corian® vanity tops with drop-in sinks, oversized showers Moen® chrome faucets and oversized minors.

The sales center, located in the building, is open Friday through Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Wednesday and Thursday.

To visit, take I-88 west to the Highland Avenue exit, proceed south on Highland Avenue/Main Street, past the Metra tracks and turn left on Curtiss Street, left on Washington Street and left on Burlington Avenue.
