Suspect free on bond in train-bulldozer accident
COLLINSVILLE -- A man accused of driving a bulldozer onto some southwestern Illinois railroad tracks where it was rammed by a train is free on bond.
Collinsville Police Detective Eric Herman says 24-year-old Nathan Bailey of Collinsville was arrested last week and was immediately freed on $200,000 bond.
Bailey is charged in Madison County with criminal damage to property over $100,000 in connection with the January 2008 case.
Investigators say the crash near Collinsville's Glidden Park didn't cause a derailment or any injuries, although the wreck seriously damaged the CSX locomotive and the bulldozer.
Authorities say the bulldozer belonged to the city and was stolen from a construction site.
Bailey doesn't have a listed telephone number and couldn't be reached for comment.
