They sound nice but strip freedoms

I would like to complement Timothy Schmidgall's Dec. 30 "A different world without Bill of Rights." I would like to add my comments.

When Congress writes bills they always give them wonderful sounding names like "The Freedom of Choice Act," which will not codify Roe v. Wade but it will deny parents an opportunity to be involved in their minor daughter's abortion decision. It will also allow partial-birth and late-term abortions, allowing the sucking out of a newborn's brain while alive, among other changes. So much for "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

How about a sweet name like "The Patriot Act" that took away the right of a jailed citizen to be released if proper charges cannot be brought against him? This is now being done, maybe not to you, but wait, your day is coming. How about "The Fairness Doctrine" that will shut down conservative talk shows? So much for freedom of speech.

Watch as the new administration goes after the Second Amendment with some sweet sounding bill and no one will be able to have a gun. This will give the government unlimited power. You will have your house, wife and daughters violated and sit and watch it all happen, and look for help but it will not come. You can go and watch "American Idol" while your freedoms are taken away from you.
