Chicago police to help in inauguration

Officials say 48 officers from the Chicago Police Department are heading to Washington, D.C. to help with managing crowds for the presidential inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.

Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis (WEES) says the officers have been chosen for their expertise.

Police say the absence of the officers won't affect the day-to-day operations of the agency in the city.

Nearly 100 police agencies nationwide are helping.

The Chicago police officers depart Sunday morning from O'Hare International Airport.
