Kentucky family sues Loyola hospital

Loyola University Medical Center faces a lawsuit from the family of a Kentucky girl who died at the Chicago hospital in 2007.

The family of Kara Eubanks of Calhoun, Ky., filed suit in Cook County Circuit Court on Wednesday. They claim the hospital knew Kara was allergic to latex and they still used a latex-tipped catheter. Kara had undergone surgery to have the catheter inserted into her heart.

Kara's age is not given.

Loyola spokeswoman Nora Plunkett said in a statement Wednesday that the hospital doesn't comment on pending litigation but that their "heart goes out" to the Eubanks family.
