Didn't GOP use same dire warnings?

Illinois Republicans say the Democrats are just running around like Chicken Littles, saying the sky is falling, with their warnings of dire consequences of massive budget cuts. Didn't DuPage County Board Chairman Bob Schillerstrom, State's Attorney Joe Birkett and the county board use the same tactic in 2005 to try to fill their $40 million hole in the county budget?

Those who spend yet don't have the courage to raise taxes, are merely abdicating their responsibilities in the hopes of political advantage and the ability to try to collar the Dems at election time with the age-old charge that they are the tax-and-spenders.

Most responsible taxpayers don't want to leave the neediest in dire straits, as long as they can be assured their elected representatives are making honest attempts to fix what's broken in the system.
