Willowbrook woman charged with beating toddler
A DuPage County mother is being held on a $500,000 bond after prosecutors accused her of battering her toddler.
Jasmine P. Walker, 39, will be arraigned Monday in DuPage County on aggravated battery of a child charges.
She is accused of striking her son in the chest and pulling and twisting his arm between Jan. 1 and April 12 in her apartment on Lilac Lane, near Willowbrook.
The toddler suffered a torn liver, broken left arm and nearly a half dozen broken ribs. He was treated at Provident and John H. Stroger hospitals in Chicago.
"The defendant confessed in a written statement to punching her son after she became frustrated with his crying," prosecutor Brian Perkins said.
Perkins said doctors found signs of old rib fractures, which were healing, indicating earlier signs of abuse. The boy, whose age was not immediately available, is expected to physically recover.
