Had enough of the 'Lisa Show' in BG
Since when did the Village of Buffalo Grove board meetings become "The Lisa Show"?
Since I began tuning into the televised meetings this summer I've come away with the strangest set of images: Lisa Stone's hands gesturing frantically in the air, enacting every word - as if every word she utters has equal prominence; Lisa hogging time with long, needy soliloquies which border on filibusters; whining when President Hartstein tries to end her endless questions and delay tactics to allow another trustee to speak; Lisa speaking out of order because ignorance in Robert's Rules of Order means she doesn't have to actually follow them; Lisa telling us she is the "sunshine" of political truth, leaving mud on the trustees, President and staff - the implication being that all but her are corrupt; Lisa berating staff and even residents in subtle and not so subtle ways; moaning about the time required to study the issue of recall after Rosh Hashana and before Yom Kippur as if religious holidays keep her from her task - as if no one else has obligations, Jewish or not (I am Jewish and applauded a non-Jewish man's complaint about this in the audience); Lisa personalizing every issue and bringing off-track betting into the most unlikely topics; Lisa plaintively describing her travails in her very short trustee term - that already she has enemies on blogs and present right there in the meeting room - trying to hurt and defame her son and family!
I am exhausted by this reality show. Whenever nuts and bolts like fire engine upgrades brought up late in the meeting by an indulgent fire department official who waited till past midnight to speak - she loses interest and stays quiet, except to "aye" the consensus opinion of the board.
Though President Hartstein shows his irritation he accommodates her. But I, a nearly 24-year resident who has kept up with local politics since the time of President Verna Clayton, am irritated, appalled, disgusted and amused by turns at this extremely vulnerable, alienating, inconsiderate and narcissistic woman.
