Don't forget those campaign promises
With the 111th Congress being sworn in this week, I would like to remind our representatives of their campaign promises to bring new jobs to Illinois and to help stop global warming.
Every day I meet more and more friends and neighbors who are losing their jobs and struggling through these hard economic times. People I know are saving money this winter by insulating their windows and driving less. These actions are also helping our environment by reducing our carbon footprint.
I'd like to see more green jobs come to Illinois as well. Companies that make our homes and businesses more energy efficient will save everyone money and help create new jobs.
With this in mind I'd like to remind my representative, Melissa Bean, and my neighbor's representative, Mark Kirk, of the promises they made about renewable energy, global warming and creating jobs. Yes, we can stimulate the economy, create green jobs and stop global warming in 2009.

Griffin for Dundee Twp. supervisor
I have known Pam Griffin since she moved to Dundee Township 11 years ago, and I've become very familiar with her character and commitment to the community over that time.
As an architect and former town commissioner, I have appreciated her working tirelessly to make the township a better place to live through a wide range of initiatives.
Her involvement has included small efforts like coordinating neighborhood activities or volunteering at the local school, and larger roles such as serving as a chairwoman for the Dundee Heritage Fest and Dickens in Dundee celebrations. Throughout these efforts, Pam has always exhibited a sense of spirit, a command of detail and an amazing work ethic.
You can believe in Pam's commitment to our community and open space. She has a great appreciation for what the open space means to our families and communities because her family actively uses these areas.
I don't think you can find an individual who will be more committed to the position of Dundee Township Supervisor. Pam Griffin will bring a great dedication to connecting our open spaces for families to enjoy.

Hitler comparison was out of line
I am responding to a Jan. 12 letter from Jack McCabe of Batavia and his comparison that Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin are similar to the Democratic party led by Nancy Pelosi because they eliminated the opposition party. The opposing party (Republican) was pretty much eliminated by the people of the United States of America.
I didn't recall you writing about the Republican party having complete control of the White House, Congress and Senate for the first six years of the last eight. Or, Republican leader Bill Frist not allowing any items submitted by Democrats to come up for a vote. You didn't complain about the most secretive White House in history, no visitors logs available, secret meetings with oil companies and Dick Cheney, illegal wire tapping, leaking of agents' I.D. (Scooter Libby), torture, Abu Ghraib. This sounds more like Hitler or Stalin.
Mr. McCabe, I think you are just upset because you (Republicans) are not in control anymore. Get used to it!
