Man struck by train in Arlington Heights

An Arlington Heights man was killed after being struck by a train Thursday night, police said. The 56-year-old man was killed after being struck by a Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line train in Arlington Heights around 8:30 p.m., Arlington Heights police said. The train came to rest at Euclid Avenue and Route 14.

Train number 657, scheduled to arrive in Crystal Lake at 8:55 p.m., was canceled; train number 660, scheduled to arrive at Ogilvie Transportation Center at 9:23 p.m., ran about 40-50 minutes late; and train number 659 scheduled to arrive at Harvard at 10:20 p.m. picked up the passengers of train number 657 at Arlington Park, and made all scheduled stops into Crystal Lake and beyond Harvard, Metra officials said.

Police declined to name the deceased man, pending notification of his family and further investigation.
