Leadership Team judges

We recruited judges from each of our coverage areas - Northwest suburban Cook County, Lake County, DuPage County and the Fox Valley - to analyze the nominations and pick the winners.

The process is blind, so judges did not know the names or schools of the students they were judging. Additionally, the judges assess students from a coverage area different from their home coverage area.

• The Rev. William Beckmann, St. Charles, pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Batavia and former administrator at Valley Lutheran High School (now Fox Valley Lutheran Academy)

• Mary Fioretti, Algonquin, former president of the Community Unit District 300 school board and current chair of District 300 Foundation for Educational Excellence

• Paul Gillette, associate principal of Barrington High School

• Michael Hatt, owner of Hatt Communications, a public relations and marketing firm based in Bloomingdale

• George "Kaz" Kazlusky, college/career consultant at Hoffman Estates High School, works with the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling

• Susan Lahr, Lindenhurst mayor since 2007 and former Millburn District 24 school board member

• Venetia Miles, director of community relations for Northwest Suburban High School District 214

• Beth Mund, public affairs coordinator for St. Charles

• Laraine Parker, campus minister at Driscoll Catholic High School in Addison

• Melanie Raczkiewicz, associate superintendent for operations at Naperville Unit District 203

• Tony Sanders, Elgin, chief communications officer at Elgin Area School District U-46

• Tim Sashko, Mundelein fire chief since 2007

• Ray Semple, Mundelein trustee since 1995

• Michelle Senatore, an active community volunteer from Wheaton

• Christine Smith, associate director and past president of the Volunteer Center of Northwest Suburban Chicago

• Sue Walker, business teacher and Future Business Leaders of America coordinator at Warren Township District High School
