Snow here and there causes more delays at airports

Persistent snow locally and rough weather on the East Coast scuttled travel plans for many people hoping to fly Tuesday evening.

O'Hare International Airport canceled 450 flights, and other passengers experienced delays of up to two hours, officials reported.

It was slightly better at Midway International Airport with waits of 45 minutes while about 15 flights were canceled.

The Chicago Department of Aviation advised anyone expecting to fly to check with their airlines first.

Meanwhile, snow made driving challenging for people most of the day. Today is expected to bring a bit of a reprieve, with sunny skies and a high temperature around 24 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
