Warming centers open in Aurora
Another round of snow is underway Thursday, Feb. 4, with expected accumulations of up to 5 inches. A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect until Friday, Feb. 5, at noon. Throughout today and into the morning, snow will continue to fall, as well as the temperatures.
Arctic temperatures will grip the area beginning this evening, with highs in the teens and single digits and sub-zero overnight lows with even colder wind chills expected throughout the weekend.
Aurora Snow Team
The full fleet of 36 Aurora Snow Team members were dispatched this morning and will work continuously to clear the streets, focusing first on primary streets and later on residential streets with assistance from contractors. Commuters should limit driving during this time. If you must drive, make sure you put distance between yourself and other drivers - and never attempt to pass snow plows. Residents should remove cars from the street.
Aurora Warming Centers
The overnight Aurora Warming Center is open each night from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. at the Aurora Transportation Center, 233 N. Broadway. The daytime Aurora Warming Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Art & History Center, 20 E. Downer Place. Both centers are open to the public and provide water, snacks and blankets to visitors in a safe, socially-distanced environment.
