Why do our senators support ACORN?
Just when you think Senators Dick Durbin and Roland Burris have reached rock bottom lows in their support of taxpayers and voters, they continue to surprise us.
In May, Senator Durbin was 1 of 6 Senators who voted to fund bringing Guantanamo prisoners to live near us. This summer both Senators Durbin and Burris avoided getting any voter input on the health care legislation issue by refusing to hold town hall meetings, or any other forum, to hear their constituents. As Senator Durbin put it, the constituents were just operatives of the insurance companies.
And now, Senators Durbin and Burris were two of only seven senators to vote to continue taxpayer funding of the corrupt ACORN organization. The bill they voted against would have blocked the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department from giving your tax dollars to ACORN, which has received $53 million from the federal government since 1994.
Eleven 11 ACORN officials in Florida suspected of voter registration fraud were recently arrested. Other ACORN officials all over America are under indictment for voter fraud. We have seen ACORN officials caught on videotape giving advice on how to avoid federal tax, housing, and sex-trafficking laws.
Who would think that Senators Durbin and Burris would continue to support such a corrupt organization when virtually every other U.S. senator voted to shut off ACORN's funds? Don't you think it's time to start holding politicians accountable for supporting corruption? Let's start with Senators Durbin and Burris.
