Outlook The Whip-Purs were eliminated from playoff contention last week, but coach Dan Cavanaugh said the work ethic in practice this week remained focused because Hampshire still has more to play for. "Yes, the goals have changed," Cavanaugh said. "Now we want to finish off strong. After the game this week we have our rival Burlington Central for homecoming next week. They're working hard and trying to get better." North Boone quarterback Alex Albrecht is the key figure in the Vikings' spread offense attack. The junior has rushed for 682 yards and 7 touchdown on 92 carries and completed 79 of 146 attempts for 1,385 yards and 16 TDs against 6 interceptions. Hampshire, which entered the fourth quarter of last week's game against BNC-East co-leading Harvard tied 20-20, will try to run the ball and control the clock with running backs Ron Laramie (107 yards last week), Caleb Kendricks and Mike Kuefner. "That's our best defense against them," Cavanaugh said of running the ball. "That's a very scary, potent offense when you throw the ball around like that. A lot of things can happen if you miss a tackle here or there. What we're hoping is that we can move the ball a little bit offensively. We did some good things against Harvard last week and Richmond the week before."
