• The Judd Kendall VFW Post 3873 and Ladies Auxiliary held its inaugural Kendall Honors Award Banquet on Saturday to honor some of Naperville's best employees. The winners were:

Police Officer of the Year: Brian Furman

Firefighter of the Year: James Collins

Boy Scout of the Year: Adam Alongi

District 203 Educators of the Year: Jeanie Nauman (Beebe Elementary), Dave Hollander (Kennedy Junior High) and Brett Thompson (Naperville Central)

District 204 Educators of the Year: Brian Klaft (Granger Middle School) and Tracey Cook (Neuqua Valley High School)

• Jazz trombonist and composer/arranger T.S. Galloway has joined the faculty of the Jazz Studies Program at Naperville's North Central College. He has performed with the Count Basie Orchestra. Following his stint with the Basie band, in 1981 he settled in Amsterdam and served as musical director and arranger for musical productions, including "A Night at the Cotton Club," "Josephine" and "Bubblin' Brown Sugar." He taught at the Sweelinck Conservatory and at the Hague, where he taught jazz trombone, arranging and student jazz ensembles.
