Saving accounts help the economy

In reference to the Nov. 22 Soapbox, your idea of spending the stimulus check from IRS on material items shows society is to blame for much of an individual's decisions. The savings rate of our nation is very low. If the stimulus check is deposited into a personal savings account the banks or other fund managers will find ways to loan money. The economy will take care of itself better than an individual with no rainy day funds.
