Northern Kane County Chamber Women in Business offers scholarships
The Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Dollars for Scholars is seeking applicants to award multiple $1,000 scholarships this year to current high school seniors or college students who reside in the chamber’s market areas of Carpentersville, East Dundee, Gilberts, Sleepy Hollow, and West Dundee.
Applicants are requested to complete an application process at www.nkccwib.dollarsforscholars.org. Deadline for completed applications is 5 p.m. Monday, March 25. For information, call the chamber office at (847) 426-8565.
“We were pleased to have awarded $2,000 each to four scholarship recipients in 2023, and look forward to providing student scholarships again this year,” said Ann Meyer, the chamber’s Women in Business chair.
Candidates will be evaluated equitably on all aspects of their application including financial need and any special circumstances.
The scholarship committee will review applications and contact finalists for interviews by Monday, April 15, 2024.
The final selected scholarship recipients will be selected no later than Monday, April 22, 2024.
Scholarships are funded through the support of the Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce and Women in Business members by fundraising efforts at the Women In Business monthly luncheons and the annual holiday luncheon held in December.
Women in Business accepts corporate donation from area businesses and foundations. As a chapter of Dollars for Scholars, a program of Scholarship America, the local chapter is a non-profit tax exempt 501(c)3 charitable organization and therefore a publicly supported charity. Corporate donations to the NKCC Women in Business Dollars for Scholars chapter are fully tax deductible.
A presentation of the annual scholarship awards luncheon will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.
Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Dollars for Scholars is dedicated to the continuing education, development, mentoring and improvement of chamber members and providing scholarships for high school seniors and college students affiliated with the Northern Kane County Chamber or residing in the chamber’s market area.
