Anderson's auctioning Bieber-signed books for charity

Justin Bieber may already be a global superstar in the world of music, but now he's tackling another medium: publishing.

Bieber, known for both his voice and his hair, recently released his first book, “Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever: My Story.”

Anderson's Bookshops, with stores in Naperville and Downers Grove, has two autographed copies ready to auction for devoted Bieber fans.

The auction is open until midnight tonight on Anderson's' website: www.andersonsbookshop.com.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit two local charities in special need at this time of year: Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Naperville and Fish Food Pantry in Downers Grove.

The bidding opens at $50 and the two winners will be notified on Tuesday, Dec. 21. Winners must contact the Naperville store by midnight Wednesday, Dec. 22, to make arrangements to claim their prize.

“First Step 2 Forever” chronicles Bieber's journey from small-town Stratford, Ontario, schoolboy to international superstardom.

At 12, he caught the attention of music manager Scooter Braun who happened to see Bieber's performance in a local talent show. Soon after, Scooter enlisted the help of music sensation Usher, and Bieber was signed to the Island Def Jam Music Group label. He was only 13.

That first release was “My World,” an album that sent seven songs to the Billboard Top 100 and was certified platinum within three months. With that success, Bieber became the youngest male solo artist to top the Billboard chart since Stevie Wonder in 1963.

“I taught myself to sing in front of my bedroom mirror and to play guitar on a hand-me-down. My mom posted my first videos on YouTube,” Bieber writes in the book. “Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I'd sell millions of records, sing for the president of the United States and sell out a massive arena tour.”
