CTA chief operating officer retiring

The Chicago Transit Authority is losing one of its top officials.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Chief Operating Officer Jeanette Martin says she is retiring after 27 years with the transit agency.

Martin has been the chief operating officer since last year, when she took over following William Mooney's retirement. Martin will retire at the end of this month. A CTA spokeswoman says no decision has been made on who will succeed Martin.
