Shooting kills 1 at Ind. State Fairgrounds party
INDIANAPOLIS — Authorities say a 20-year-old man was killed and another wounded in shootings that happened at the Indiana State Fairgrounds during a confrontation among people attending an under-21 holiday party.
State police 1st Sgt. David Bursten says more than 200 people were at the party when the shooting happened soon after midnight Tuesday. The "Ice Cold Christmas Jam" was organized by a private promoter and attracted teenagers and young adults.
Shawn Campbell of Indianapolis was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say an 18-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and treated at a hospital.
Bursten said investigators were questioning partygoers and didn't immediately make any arrests.
