Solicitation charges against child counselor
Will County authorities say they have arrested a mental health counselor who works with troubled children for allegedly trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old girl.
Authorities say 39-year-old John Martynus of Plainfield is charged with counts including indecent solicitation of a minor and traveling to meet a minor.
Police in Crete say they arrested Martynus Monday night after an undercover operation in which he was led to believe he was communicating online with the fictitious 13-year-old.
The (Joliet) Herald-News report that Martynus works for the Will County Health Department as a mental health counselor and is also a coach and referee for the Illinois High School Association.
He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday in Joliet. Police did not say whether Martynus has an attorney
